Copyright Policy

01 — Ownership of Content

Kochi.co is operated by Gallivant Ventures LLP. The following elements are owned by or licensed to Gallivant Ventures LLP and are protected under the Copyright Act, 1957 (India) and applicable international copyright treaties:

• The Kochi.co name, wordmark, and tagline ("The world was always here.")
• The Kochi.co visual identity system — colour palette, typography specifications, logomark, iconography, and design patterns
• Original editorial copy published through Kochi.co's own social media handles (@kochi on X, @kochidotco on Instagram and YouTube, facebook.com/kochi.co)
• The website layout, design, code structure, and user interface of kochi.co
• Any original photographs, illustrations, or graphic assets created by or commissioned by Gallivant Ventures LLP

All rights in these materials are reserved. Unauthorised reproduction, modification, distribution, or commercial use of Kochi.co's owned content is prohibited without prior written permission.

02 — Third-Party Aggregated Content

Content sourced from Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), and YouTube is displayed on Kochi.co pursuant to the public APIs, embed mechanisms, and developer terms provided by those platforms. Display of such content on Kochi.co does not constitute a transfer of copyright from the original creator to Gallivant Ventures LLP.

If you are the creator of content that appears on Kochi.co and you have concerns about how it is displayed, please refer to Section 05 (Reporting Copyright Infringement) or Section 06 (Takedown Process) below.

Kochi.co operates as an intermediary under Section 2(1)(w) of the Information Technology Act, 2000 (India). We do not modify the substance of aggregated posts. Our intermediary status and safe harbour protections are detailed in our Terms & Conditions.

03 — Permitted Uses of Kochi.co Content

You may use Kochi.co's original content (wordmark, editorial copy, original photography, visual assets) in the following limited ways without prior written permission:

• Personal, non-commercial sharing — sharing links to Kochi.co pages on social media or messaging platforms, with attribution to Kochi.co
• Media coverage — journalists and editorial outlets may quote brief excerpts of Kochi.co original editorial content for the purpose of news reporting, commentary, or criticism, with clear attribution to Kochi.co
• Educational use — use of brief excerpts or screenshots in non-commercial academic, research, or classroom contexts, with attribution
• Linking — linking to any publicly accessible Kochi.co page from any website or publication is permitted without restriction

All other uses — including reproduction, adaptation, commercial use, bulk download, or systematic archiving — require prior written permission from Gallivant Ventures LLP. Contact follow@kochi.co with the subject line "Content Use Request".

04 — Restricted Uses

• Reproducing Kochi.co original content — including editorial copy, design assets, or photography — in whole or in substantial part on another website, app, or publication
• Using the Kochi.co name, wordmark, or logomark in a way that suggests endorsement, affiliation, or partnership that does not exist
• Scraping, crawling, or systematically downloading content from kochi.co for republication, resale, or training of machine learning models
• Creating derivative works — including AI-generated variations — based on Kochi.co's original brand or editorial content
• Representing aggregated third-party content from Kochi.co as your own or as original content created by Kochi.co
• Commercial use of any Kochi.co content without a written licence from Gallivant Ventures LLP

Violations may result in legal action under the Copyright Act, 1957 (India), the Information Technology Act, 2000, and applicable civil remedies.

05 — Reporting Copyright Infringement

If you believe that content appearing on Kochi.co infringes your copyright, please submit a written notice to us at follow@kochi.co with the subject line "Copyright Infringement Notice".

Your notice must include:

• Your full name, address, telephone number, and email address
• A description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed
• The URL or specific location on Kochi.co where the allegedly infringing content appears
• A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or applicable law
• A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on the owner's behalf
• Your physical or electronic signature

Submitting a false or misleading infringement notice is a violation of our Terms & Conditions and may expose you to legal liability for damages under applicable Indian law.

06 — Takedown Process

Fastest method: If the content in question originated from a social media platform (Facebook, Instagram, X, or YouTube), delete or make private the original post on that platform. Our feed refreshes automatically — the content will be removed from Kochi.co within 24 hours.

Direct takedown request: Submit a notice as described in Section 05 to follow@kochi.co. On receipt of a valid notice, we will:

• Acknowledge your request within 24 hours
• Investigate and, where appropriate, disable access to the content
• Complete action within 15 days of receipt (or within 72 hours where the content relates to public order or national security under applicable Indian law)
• Notify you of the outcome

07 — Counter-Notice

If content you created or own the rights to has been removed from Kochi.co following an infringement notice and you believe the removal was made in error, you may submit a counter-notice to follow@kochi.co with the subject line "Copyright Counter-Notice".

Your counter-notice must include:

• Your full name, address, telephone number, and email address
• Identification of the content that was removed and the location where it appeared before removal
• A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief that the content was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification
• A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the courts of Kochi, Kerala, India
• Your physical or electronic signature

On receipt of a valid counter-notice, we will review the matter and, where appropriate, restore the content within 15 days, unless the original complainant provides evidence of a court order restraining restoration.

08 — Repeat Infringement

Kochi.co is a portal for city content — it does not host user-generated uploads. Accordingly, our repeat infringement policy applies to the aggregation of external social media accounts whose content is found to repeatedly infringe third-party rights.

Where an external social media account is identified as a repeat source of infringing content appearing on Kochi.co, we may take steps to exclude that account from future aggregation on the platform. This determination is made at the discretion of Gallivant Ventures LLP following review of substantiated complaints.

09 — Third-Party Trademarks

Logos and trademarks of Facebook, Meta, Instagram, X, YouTube, Google, and other platforms are the property of their respective owners. These marks appear on Kochi.co solely to identify content sourced from those platforms and are used in accordance with each platform's published brand guidelines.

Their appearance on Kochi.co does not imply any affiliation with, sponsorship by, or endorsement from those companies. Kochi.co is an independent city portal and is not affiliated with any of the platforms whose content it aggregates.

References to Kochi Municipal Corporation, the Government of Kerala, Cochin Port Authority, Kochi Metro Rail Limited, and other public bodies are for editorial identification only and do not imply official affiliation or endorsement.
