# How the Kochi.co feed works

## Where do the posts come from?

Posts come from the Kochi accounts Kochi.co follows on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube, listed in Kochi.co's follow list. Accounts that have accepted the partner terms are partners: their posts show as full tiles with photos. Other followed accounts' posts show as a card that loads the post from its platform only when you ask. Kochi.co's own accounts appear too.

On X, Kochi.co shows only what @kochi posts, reposts or likes. A post @kochi reposts or likes can come from any account; it is Kochi.co's pick, shown as a card that loads from X when you ask.

## Which posts are shown?

A followed account's post is shown when it tags @kochi, uses an accepted Kochi.co hashtag such as #kochi, or is an Instagram Collab with @kochi. It must also be about Kochi: a location inside Ernakulam district, or a Kochi place name in the text. Posts @kochi reposts or likes on X do not need a tag; they are chosen by Kochi.co.

## Why was a post left out?

Rules decide, and a post that fails any of them is not shown. Posts more than 72 hours old are left out, and so are posts about elections, accidents, crime or other sensitive subjects. Each account shows at most 3 posts a day, and no account takes more than a quarter of a row. Posts written in Malayalam script are held back until Kochi.co's Malayalam topic list has been reviewed.

## How long do posts stay?

Posts stay for 7 days, and events until they end. Posts from X stay for 24 hours. A post deleted on its platform is removed from Kochi.co when Kochi.co next checks that platform, and within 24 hours on X.

## Do new posts appear while I read?

No. When newer posts arrive, a button such as "3 new posts · show" appears above the row. Nothing moves until you press it.

## What does "Sponsored" mean?

"Sponsored" marks something paid for. It appears on a post when the platform's paid-partnership label, #ad or #sponsored is present, and on the home page's one Sponsored slot, which shows a paying sponsor's latest posts (see [Advertise](/advertise)). Being a partner is free and is not Sponsored.

## Do the platforms see my visit?

Not unless you choose. Photos and video stills from partners are served from kochi.co, so your browser does not load them from Instagram, Facebook, X or YouTube. Posts from accounts that have not accepted the partner terms show a button such as "Load from Instagram": only when you press it does your browser load that one post from the platform, and its own privacy policy applies to it. Opening a post takes you to the platform.
